It’s AAA-live!
About two weeks ago, Tim Lin (Chief of Staff, Fall ’03) emailed current AAA President Tammy Ung about the idea of a potential AAA blog that would function as an online resource, sharing with members (and nonmembers alike) events and issues currently ongoing within the Asian American community on campus and in society at large. Upon receiving the forwarded email, I was instantly impressed and deliriously began singing at the top of my lungs -something that amounted to this Cal alumni’s enthusiastic performance back in 2004 —This would be Issues’ chance to genuinely improve the academic clout of the organization, and I selfishly wanted it to be another Issues project.
One problem: I needed Techno, HC, and PR’s help to get the blog -and the hype for it -started. Although this blog is going to be a platform where Issues circulates news of significant interest in the Asian American community, we (Issues) want to offer this space to everyone to communicate their thoughts, concerns, and experiences to the rest of the AAA community. Your opinions are valuable to us. Whether or not you’re on Issues, this communal space should be as interactive, interpersonal, and inclusive as possible. I personally encourage you to venture the linked sites on this page (after reading this one first, of course) to prod the part of your brain that lies fallow while surfing the net. Who knows? Maybe you’ll find the importance of blogging to AAPIs meaningful. Or perhaps the significance of Asian American faces spread across the media as momentous. (Holla atcho boys from Quest Crew!)
Our community is AAAmazing. There’s always more to learn as we seek out the Asian inside each and every one of us. As long as you invest a little bit of time and heart, the Asian American community will eternally provide you with a home for comfort, a network of mutual support, and an arsenal for defense. Now that the AAA blog is finally AAA-live, you will all be prepared to embrace the Asian inside of you, whether it’s about being proud of these prominent notables or simply content that there are people out there who share the same interests as you… Just don’t forget to revisit this page from time to time.
Sincerely,
Annie Tung

*Props to CoS Tim Lin!
Might want to update the “About” section from the generic Wordpress page, and add some submission information there too…
Will happen soon, thanks!
